Menter Iaith Maelor

The Menter Iaith Maelor Welsh medium Children’s Holiday Club opened its doors on Monday 21 July 2003 at Ysgol Plas Coch, Stansty Road, Wrexham. The club offers safe, enjoyable play for children 4 to 11 years old, caring for them while their parents are working, studying, or just needing a break! The Club operates during each school holiday other than Christmas. A maximum of 25 children can be accommodated at any one time.

Light refreshments, arts and crafts, sports and play facilities are be provided under the guidance of qualified staff, led by Llinos Parry. There is a minimum of one staff member for every eight children. All staff are competent in First Aid. A Management Committee oversees the Club, its members being drawn from among parents and with representation from schools. The Club has been registered with the Care Standards Inspectorate Wales (Registration Number NEW 160), and Criminal Records Bureau checks have been undertaken for everyone working with it.

The Club operates an Equal Opportunities Policy. Children with special needs are welcome at the Club.

The Club operates from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. The fee is £7 per session (morning or afternoon) or £13 for the day. Places must be booked in advance – a Registration Form may be obtained from the Menter Office.

The Club is supported financially by grants from the New Opportunities Fund, Awards for All Wales and Wrexham County Borough’s Cymorth grant scheme.
